Back in April, I posted the news that we were having another baby. At that time, figuring things wouldn't be completely different than the first time Dana was pregnant, I said I'd keep posting updates during the pregnancy. Boy, was I wrong. It's been four months since I gave any updates! There are a variety of reasons/excuses - being busy at work, having a child at home to play with, etc. But really, the biggest reason was that this pregnancy was so different than the last one. With Charlie, there were more issues - we were getting ultrasounds every time we went to the doctor and Dana was on restrictions. None of that this time, which is good because Charlie with all his energy was hard enough to keep up with for Dana.
So now, here we are, two days past the Due Date (December 1 was the official due date we were given, but the ultrasounds and measurements we had always indicated November 29 as the projected date). What has made being late worse for Dana, was the fact that Charlie came a week earlier than he was due. So, in Dana's mind, we've been past due for over a week! Yesterday, we went to Dr. Goldman's office for monitoring. The topic of inducing labor came up, and it was something that we jumped on right away. For the past week, Dana has been experiencing periodic but not consistent contractions, and a lot of pain. We figured, if the doctor was cool with it, let's go for it.
We arrived at the Columbia Center at 7:00 this morning, Dana filled out some paperwork, and we got settled in. Dana got some IVs put in and started, and we've just been hanging out since then, watching TV (SportsCenter, then HGTV - guess who's in control of the remote!). Dr. Goldman popped in before going to another office this morning, and talked to us for a bit. Since she didn't give us a size estimate of the baby yesterday, she took a look and told us today. She said she's expecting about 8 pounds, give or take 2 pounds (gee, thanks for narrowing that down, doc!). Dr. Goldman will be back here between noon and 1 pm to check on our progress, and said if Dana's water had not broken by then, she would do it.
So now, we are just waiting. Sometime today, we are going to welcome the newest member of our family to the world. We are so excited! I'll post pictures of the little one as soon as I can :)
